Abstract
An unbiased search for evidence is an important component of evidence-based practice (EBP). Barriers using bibliographic databases include lack of time, motivation to implement EBP, and limited search skills. This secondary analysis of a cross-sectional, multisite study on nurses’ EBP competency showed that nurses who took a class taught by librarians demonstrated greater competency in finding evidence and had significantly higher basic (p = .04), advanced (p = .02), and total (p = .03) EBP competencies. These findings highlight the need for nurse leaders to prioritize support for hospital librarians through sustained resources and integration into EBP infrastructure to strengthen nursing practice.
