Abstract
Despite a robust research base, hospital-acquired conditions and preventable harms persist. Health care professionals must recognize the critical role of evidence to ensure a safe environment for care. This column encourages health care professionals to fundamentally reconsider their approach to evidence to protect patients and the integrity of the profession.
